It was one of the 33 hamlets of the Villa y Tierra de Roa Community, when in 1143; Alfonso VII conceded the exemption of Sepúlveda.
Its main source of wealth are the vineyards, since different wine producers with high quality wine like the Viyuela Winery and the Montegaredo Winery can be found in this town. The church of Nuestra Señora de la Antigua stands out in its historical and artistic frame.
